Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Tuesday strongly condemned the political speeches delivered by lawyers at the Supreme Court auditorium last Saturday. Talking to PTV, he said that speeches against Pakistan Army and the state were a condemnable act, leading to destabilise the country.
To a question, the Chief Minister stressed the need for collective wisdom from the legislatures to clear prevailing confusion among the masses. "Elected government has mandate of majority and its perennial right should be accepted at all costs," he further said.
Condemning certain lawyers, he said that they were politicising purely a legal and judicial issue under the guise of black coat. Reiterating his earlier stance, he said officials of Sindh government would appear before the Sindh High Court if given protection.
Commenting on the May 12 allegations that Sindh government denied inquiry into the incident, he said: "We were waiting to cool down the situation before ordering any inquiry." He added that the government took preventive action so that the situation could not aggravate further.
