Meet Pakistan's new blood to take on West Indies

imagePakistan cricket Chief Selector Inzamam ul Haq announced the One Day International (ODI) and T20i squads for the upcoming tour of West Indies, on Wednesday.

With veteran batsman Kamran Akmal and Ahmed Shahzad making their comebacks, the entry of fresh blood provided a breath of fresh air to Pakistan tried and tested limited overs battalion.

Inzamam decision to introduce fresh faces, particularly the ones with exceptional show in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League and in the domestic cricket runs parallel with his previous promise to make some bold choices and select players mainly on current form and merit.

Here is the list of uncapped players that would be representing Pakistan against the West Indies;

Asif Zakir

imageLeading the list of uncapped players is Asif Zakir, aged 33 the Right handed batsman from Karachi is not your regular young gun, but with an experience of 14 years in first-class cricket and 123 matches under his belt, its time for Zakir to translate that experience on the ODI stage.

Fakhar Zaman

imageFakhar Zaman was the find of PSL II, the left handed batsman from Mardan KPK scored 177 runs in his eight innings for the Lahore Qalandars, which includes an impressive half-century to his name.

Zaman also enjoys an impressive first class record, in 35 first-class matches, he has a batting average of 42.01 with 5 hundreds and 13 half tons.

Shadab Khan

imageLeg spinner Shadab Khan, was one of the most impressive young bowlers unearthed during PSL, playing for Islamabad United he scored 66 runs in seven innings. However, his performance with the ball caught the attention claiming nine wickets with a best of 3/13 against Karachi Kings.

The 18 years old has also represented Pakistan Under-19s, in four first-class matches the all rounder averages at 47 and has picked 24 wickets.

Mohammad Asghar

imageMohammad Asghar, has grabbed attention playing for PSL champions Peshawar Zalmi, and was pivotal for his side during their encounter with Quetta Gladiators in the final.

He has played 17 first-class matches and has picked up 68 wickets.

Fahim Ashraf

imageThe left-arm spinner was the leading wicket-taker in the 2016-17 Departmental One-Day Cup, by grabbing 19 wickets in the tournament.

The 24-year-old has played 31 first class matches and scored 1,207 runs. He has an average of 32.62 and a top score of 116.
