KARACHI: Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair Saturday said that women's role was inevitable for the overall economic development in a society.
He was speaking at the Ladies Fund Award ceremony at the Governor House here in connection with the International Women's Day, says a Governor House statement here.
It said that the event was held under the auspices of Dawood Global Foundation.
The Governor further stated that Islam teachings ensured due rights to the women. He said that the role of women was appreciable towards the economic development.
Zubair said that it was the priority of every government to ensure rights of women. He said that women could play effective role for overcoming intolerance in the society.
The Governor said that quite a number of women were illiterate and concerted efforts were required to educate them.
He stated that it augurs well that the Ladies Fund gave away awards to women who excelled in various fields.
