imageOne of the first big box office clashes of 2017 has been witnessed on January 25, when Kaabil and Raees hit the theaters on the same day. Both the movies were big budget movies of Bollywood and makers were not too happy with this clash. While both the films were going neck to neck into the release weekend, but Shah Rukh Khans film has taken a lead in the initial stages which irks Kaabil producer Rakesh Roshan.

The 43-year-old star Hrithik Roshan, who plays role of a visually-challenged in the film, said his producer father, Rakesh Roshan, is hurt with the way things have turned out.

He said, My father plans his life very well. He was also very careful. Kaabil was about to get over in October. But he did not want to release it in November or December last year as the dates were already taken by someone else and it would not have been fair. He decided to go to January as he didnt want to put any other producer in distress. My father is careful and concerned for others so he also expects other to be the same way. He is a little hurt and upset, Indian Express reported.

At the special screening of Kaabil, Rakesh Roshan was also asked by IANS whether he will be watching Raees as it is releasing on the same day. To which he said, No, I will watch Kaabil once again.

Rakesh Roshan also said in an interview, I thought this industry will get mature day by day with all the corporate coming in. But it is getting dirtier and dirtier and we are going backwards. I have told them to avoid such clashes because its not good and ethical for the film. The producers are losing, distributors are losing, exhibitors are losing, audience is losing, who has so much money to go and watch two films? You are depriving so many people of so many things. Everything is getting dirty and unethical. No professionalism, no friendship, its (Bollywood) not a close knit family at all.

While, Shah Rukh Khan on the other hand once said that he wasnt left with any choice than to release it in January. Two films coming on the same day individually wont earn as much as they would have. Thats logical. But theres no other date, yaar! I have tried my best to shift it around. We were initially supposed to come on Eid in June, then I tried to get it in September-October, but Ae Dil and Shivaay were coming. Then I tried to come on December 9, but Befikre was coming. In between, I had Dear Zindagi, too. So unfortunately because of the delay and my injury, it is what it is now. Otherwise, even if we had come on Eid, it would have still clashed with Sultan. There are 200 films and just 52 weeks, so then some will have to come together, SRK said.
