NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that the ongoing developmental projects in southern parts of the province would usher in a new era of prosperity and will help alleviate poverty, backwardness besides creating economic activities and jobs opportunities.
Talking to a delegation from southern districts led by Maqbool Jan at Frontier House, the chief minister specifically mentioned establishment of industrial estate in Bannu, provision of gas, construction of Bannu Ghulam Khan Road, and bypass, saying these projects would bring the backward parts at par with developed parts of the province and would definitely upgrade the living standard of the populous.
Durrani said that he wanted to serve the people irrespective of their party affiliation, saying the God had given him a chance to fulfil his desire with popular support of masses.
He said along with his hometown Bannu other adjacent districts have been equally treated and was given due share in all development activities. Durrani said that for a developed nation, modern education and knowledge of modern technology was imperative, adding his government for real development of the province was focusing on this sector from the day one of its coming into being.
He stressed the need for improved education at all level, saying waiving off fee up to matric in government-run schools, provision of free books, up gradation of countless education institutions, Bannu University, Durrani Public School and College, Women University and Police Public School were the example of his government endeavours to this end.
The chief minister said that job opportunities in the government entities were insufficient therefore for creation of jobs for jobless, establishment of industrial estate has been given practical shape.
He expressed the hope that with supply of gas to southern parts, revolutionary changes would occur in the living standard of the people of the areas, adding the people would indulge in productive activities and positive change would come in their thinking.
Durrani told the delegation that work on the construction of modern and well-equipped hospital would initiate by next month and work on cancer hospital was already underway, saying with completion of these hospitals, the people of the areas would get rid of the dependency on other districts.
He further said that summary for setting up of circuit bench of high court has been approved and the people would have access to justice at their doorsteps.
