imageMOSCOW" Krasnodar battled back from a goal down to beat visitors Zenit St Petersburg 2-1 courtesy of injury-time goals by Marat Izmailov and Tornike Okriashvili on Sunday.

The result left Saint Petersburg second in the table, six points behind leaders Spartak Moscow, with Krasnodar third, four points further back.

In the opening period with little in the way of goalmough action Zenit's only chance came in the 40th minute when Robert Mak found the unmarked Giuliano in the area -- but Krasnodar 'keeper Andrei Sinitsyn parried his close-range shot.

Russian international striker Artem Dzyuba put Zenit 1-0 up on 86 minutes, sweeping home a rebound after Sinitsyn failed to stop a shot by Axel Witsel from the edge of the box.

But Krasnodar fought back and midfielder Izmailov levelled in the second minute of stoppage time after a defensive blunder.

At the death, Okriashvili had a 32,000 home crowd on their feet when he netted Krasnodar's winner with an overhead kick from the edge of the area.

"This win is a miracle, nothing else," Krasnodar manager Igor Shalimov said. "Zenit, who definitely are a classy team, just missed their chance to win.

"But it's not our problem. We will just enjoy this victory."

Elsewhere, last season's runners-up Rostov, fresh from their Champions League win over Germany's giants Bayern Munich, beat visitors Anzhi Makhachkala 2-0 to go sixth.

Rostov took command from the start and in the 41st minute their Iranian striker Sardar Azmon opened the scoring with a low shot from just inside the area after a one-two with Dmitry Poloz.

Skipper Aklexandru Gatcan netted the clincher with 11 minutes left with a close-range header before being dismissed for violent conduct two minutes later.
