imageSIALKOT: Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana has said that good and dutiful teachers have ever been a precious asset of society, as they are true builders of the nation.

He was addressing the participants in the annual prize distribution ceremony of Cadet College Sialkot, held at Kotli Noonaan-Sambrial, on Sunday.

He urged the teachers and parents to focus on character-building of the students and stressed the need for bringing about a change in our social attitude towards promotion of quality education for all.

He also called for removing all hurdles in the way of this noble cause, saying that students were the future of the country and all of us should secure their educational future by ensuring their easy access to quality education.

The governor stressed the need for promotion of knowledge-based education and personality building of the students as well.

Rajwana said that the world was high appreciative of the Pakistan's frontline role for establishment of peace in the region. Pakistan's armed forces have successfully eradicate militancy, insurgency and terrorism as well, he added.

He said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a gateway to prosperity of Pakistan, which would bring about an economic revolution and provide huge employment opportunities to the country men.

The governor said that the defence of Pakistan was in very strong and safe hands and no one could dare cast an evil eye on it.

The cadets paid tributes to the victims of Army Public School, Peshawar through a tableau.

College Principal Col (R) Sultan Sikandar Ghumman presented welcome address and highlighted achievements of the Cadet College Sialkot.

Later, the governor and the principal distributed medals, prizes and trophies among the cadets.

MNA Dr Shakeela Luqman, Dr Khalid Luqman, Chairman Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) Malik Muhammad Arshad, Chairman Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) Khawar Anwar Khwaja, senior journalists, doctors, lawyers and notables were also present on the occasion.
