SUKKUR: The supply of potable water to Sukkur will be increased from existing 16 million gallons to 30 million gallons per day (mgd) by June, 2017 after the completion of ongoing water supply project, said Director of Operations, North Sindh Urban Services Corporation (NSUSC), Mazhar Hussain Dayo, here on Saturday.
Talking to the members of Sukkur Development Alliance (SDA), he said most of the water pipelines had been laid from 1954 to 1971 through which only four million gallons of water was supplied, adding that after an increase in capacity they were now supplying 16 million gallons of water to the people.
The NSUSC Director of Operation informed that after after completion of the ongoing project they will be supplying 30 million gallons of potable water to citizens by June, 2017.
He pointed out that Rs 4 billion were allocated to NSUSC for supplying clean water to the residents of Sukkur, Khairpur, Rohri, Larkana and other areas. However, he added, the project remained unfinished in Sukkur.
Earlier, SDA Chairperson Javed Memon apprised him of the civic problems faced by the residents.
