'Complete ban on liquor in NWFP'

The NWFP Education Minister, Maulana Fazle Ali Haqqani, has announced that there would be a complete ban on sale of liquor and dens of prostitution as long as the MMA government is in power in the province.
This he said while addressing different public meetings at Kaddi village in Swabi district on Friday. He said the MMA government was totally different from all the previous governments that, he said, robbed the people in one or the other form.
Enumerating the steps of his government, he said: "We recruited nearly 40,000 teachers on pure merit basis. Whereas, the previous rulers doled out jobs to their near and dear ones as well as sold out posts against big amounts."
"Our government started giving free books to students of schools that increased enrolment of students up to 0.5 million," he said, adding " we also exempted tuition fee." He said the MMA government has multiplied manifold the number of educational institutions in the province. He said: "My government aims at doing a sincere service to our people because we have to be held accountable for our deeds on the Day of Judgement."
Along with the steps for bringing about a social change, he said, the government was also making serious efforts to build the infrastructure. Meanwhile, 300 persons of Kaddi village announced to join JUI, on this occasion. Earlier, Maulana Haqqani laid the foundation stone of the proposed Government High School Kaddi. The new building of the school would cost 4 million rupees. He also inaugurated the newly repaired roads of the village.
Maulana Hussain Ahmad, Noorul Islam Khan, Sahib Zar Khan, Fida Mohammad and Hidayatur Rehman also addressed the meeting on this occasion.
