Justice Hamid Ali Mirza, a judge of the Supreme Court will retire on September 13 after completing his more than 30 years long career as judge of the trial court, high court and the apex court.
According to official record, Justice Hamid Ali Mirza was born on September 14, 1940. He completed his B.Sc and LL.B and started his career as practising lawyer in 1961. He continued his practice from 1961 to 1973. He joined service on December 9, 1973 and was elevated as judge of Sindh High Court on April 10 in 1995. Justice Hamid Ali Mirza was elevated as judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on April 28, 2000.
According to Supreme Court sources, Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui who remained Chief Justice of Pakistan for about one and a half-year has already retired on June 29 this year. After the retirement of the Justice Hamid Ali Mirza, only three judges from Sindh province will be in the Supreme Court namely Justice Rana Bhagwandas, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar who is also Acting Chief Election Commissioner and Justice Sayed Saeed Ashhad. When asked about the full court reference in honour of Justice Hamid Ali Mirza, the sources said, "A full court reference will be held on September 13 and all judges of the Supreme Court will attend the reference ceremony.
