Weekly inflation increases 0.50pc

imageISLAMABAD: The weekly inflation for the week ended on September 08 for the combined income group witnessed an increase of 0.50 percent as compared to the previous week.

The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 218.58 points against 217.49 points registered in the previous week, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) here on Friday.

As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review also increased by 1.83 percent.

The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007 2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.

Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 8000 also increased by 0.66 percent as it went up from 208.97 points in the previous week to 210.35 points in the week under review.

As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001 to Rs 12,000, Rs. 12,001 to 18,000, Rs 18,001 to Rs 35,000 and above Rs 35000 also increased by 0.65 per cent, 0.56 percent, 0.51 percent and 0.42 percent respectively.

During the week under review average prices of 08 items registered decrease, while 16 items increased with the remaining 29 items' prices unchanged.

The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included chicken (farm), bananas, pulse mash (washed), pulse moong (washed), pulse gram (washed), rice basmati broken and sugar.

The items which recorded increase in their average prices included onion, tomatoes, LPG cylinder (11kg), garlic, potatoes, wheat flour (bag), wheat, eggs hen (farm), gur, vegetable ghee (loose), milk powder, red chilly powder, mutton, petrol super, rice irri-6 and hi-speed diesel.

The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included bread plain, beef, milk fresh, curd, mustard oil, cooking oil (tin), vegetable ghee (tin), salt powder, tea, cooked beef, cooked daal, tea prepared, cigarettes, long cloth, shirting, lawn, georgette, gents chappal, gents sandal, ladies sandal, electricity charges, gas charges, kerosene oil, fire wood, electric bulbs, washing soap, match box telephone local calls and bath soap.
