NADRA to increase centres in rain hit areas

asdwrtaKARACHI: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), has set up 36 centres in four rain-affected districts of Sindh to facilitate affected families.

General Manager, NADRA Sindh, Brig (r) Zahid Hussain on Saturday said 18 more centres are being set up on war footing to help affected families, making the total count to 54.

"Only head of affected families are eligible for Pakistan Card, he said in a statement on Saturday.

Detailed procedure for using Pakistan Card is being handed over to the eligible people at the bank counters while UBL and HBL are also helping NADRA in this operation, said Hussain.

He said that NADRA has so far issued more then 160,348 Pakistan Cards to heads of the affected families.

Of these 15,833 were issued in Mirpurkhas, 107,744 in Badin, 20,183 in Tando Mohammad Khan and 16,588 in Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah).

NADRA Chief for Sindh said the relief aid's beneficiary list is validated by Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the registration of affected families is carried out by PDMA with the assistance of DCOs of the calamity-hit areas.

In case of any complication in data, grievance counter are functional along with the PCP centres at all the taluka and districts of the province, he said.

Brig (retd) Zahid Hussain said NADRA staff is working day and night to facilitate the applicants of Pakistan Cards.

In addition to new centres NADRA has also mobilized its mobile resources including Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs) in all affected areas in coordination with public representative and District Administrator.

It is to facilitate the non holder of cards (non registered applicant) and people desirous to change the marital status, single family members, widows and third gender (Khawja siras) in all respect.

He said that NADRA will ensure its presence in the affected areas till last individual get the benefit announced by the government.
