Meet the Urdu Thesaurus, as the name suggests is the language first online thesaurus that has been launched recently, along with a free app.
The first online Urdu Thesaurus (www.urduthesaurus.com) has been developed by the publishing house KITAB. As local media reports, the Urdu Thesaurus provides synonyms for Urdu words. One can search for over forty thousand unique words and phrases, and over twenty thousand sets of synonyms using its website and app.
Developed by Musharraf Ali Farooqi in over a five year time span, the Urdu Thesaurus is a free educational resource, developed through a private effort without funding from any outside sources.
Coming to the app, the Urdu Thesaurus free app enables users to search and share data through email and social media. Reports added that synonyms can be shared, as well as suggestions for corrections or additions can be sent directly from the app through email.
It was further learnt the current resource would be increased as bilingual dictionaries and special terminology from specific learning fields will also be included later, which will be crucial for carrying complex translation projects, as well as, vocabulary building tools for children will also be introduced.
