Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Shahid Karimullah and Vice Admiral Zhang Dingfa, the Commander Navy Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) held formal talks in Beijing on Monday and decided to enhance bilateral co-operation in the defence field.
The two sides expressed satisfaction over the existing co-operation between the two navies and decided to further consolidate it for their mutual benefit, said a senior Pakistani naval official.
He told APP that the two navies will continue to co-operate in different fields of their mutual interest including training to strengthen their defence capability.
The matters relating to purchase new warships from China were discussed during the meeting.
To a question, the official hoped that the two sides would soon finalise the deal regarding the purchase of naval warships.
Admiral Shahid Karimullah who arrived here on Monday on a weeklong visit to China thanked the Chinese side for their support in meeting Pakistan's defence requirements.
The visit is a part of high-level exchanges between the two friendly countries, aimed at establishing comprehensive partnership in all fields of bilateral interest.
According to the PLA's sources, the Chinese people and their armed forces always regarded Pakistan as their sincere, reliable and trustworthy friend and brother. It is hoped that the high-level exchanges and co-operation between the two countries' armed forces would receive further strengthen with a passage of time.
