KARACHI: Inspector General Police Sindh Wajid Durrani said that the detention of Afaq Ahmed, chief of Mohajar Qoumi Movement (MQM-H) was for one month under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
"It is not for indefinite period or permanent," he said while talking to newsmen after attending the proceedings of suo motu case here on Thursday.
The IGP said Afaq Ahmed was detained for one month following police report, in which it was apprehended that his release could cause serious law and order situation in the metropolis.
The IGP said Afaq will be released as soon as the concerns of the police department regarding law and order situation are removed.
