UAE to set up relief camp in Sindh

ISLAMABAD: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will set up a relief camp in a safe area to accommodate 5,000 displaced families in the flood-hit areas of Sindh province.

The camp will be expanded gradually to cater for 35,000 families for two weeks.

According to Gulf News, in keeping with the directives of UAE President, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, an Emirati team has also arrived in Karachi in preparation to move relief materials to the affected people in the flood-hit areas of the Sindh and Balochistan provinces.

The team members have, in coordination with the UAE Consulate in Karachi, started arrangements for the first convoy carrying relief materials to Badin district, the worst hit area.

UAE Consul General in Karachi, Suhail Matar Al Kutbi said UAE's immediate response to the Sindh river floods was in line with the directives of Shaikh Khalifa and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority.

"The UAE never hesitate in providing assistance to the people affected by natural calamities.

The team and Consulate members will handle distribution of relief materials to the affected families," he added.
