BUENOS AIRES: Argentina closing soy prices and trends on Wednesday:

* Soy prices in Rosario closed down at 1,280 pesos per tonne ($288) from Tuesday's 1,296 pesos as they tracked losses in the benchmark US futures market in Chicago, traders said.

* The dip in prices persuaded farmers to hold onto their beans and almost no deals were done. About 2,000 tonnes of soy changed hands in the previous session.

* Exporters have sufficient stocks so were unwilling to raise their offers, traders said.

* Soybean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade fell to a six-week low on concerns about poor export demand for US soybeans and seasonal pressure from the approaching US harvest, traders said.

* In Rosario, soybeans for May 2012 delivery, priced in US dollars, closed flat at $310 per tonne.

* In the southern port of Quequen, the oilseed fell 17.7 pesos to 1,280 pesos per tonne.

Following is a list of grains and oilseed prices in Argentina's main ports. Values from the previous session are in parentheses. All figures listed are in pesos per tonne. MARKETS
