firdousISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Wednesday that criticism for the sake of criticism should be avoided at this time of national crisis as this would affect the national unity.

While replying to media persons' questions at briefing held to share details of federal cabinet meeting here,she said that the countrymen trust the government and the government trusts them and false propaganda was being spread about the credibility of the government by ceratin elements which was against the national interests.

While replying to a question, she said that the nation hopes that Mian Nawaz Sharif would join hands in relief efforts and will not try to get political milage from the misery of the people of Sindh.

She said that President Asif Ali Zardari has constituted a monitoring cell in the Presidency to monitor the performance of the agencies involved in rescue and relief efforts.She said that purpose of setting up this cell was to ensure transparency and accountability in the distribution of relief goods among the flood victims.

The minister said that judges of superior judiciary have donated in the PM's relief fund. She said that a prominent media house donated Rs 2.5 million for the PM's flood relief fund which proves that media has trust in the government.

To another question, he said that President even on hospital bed in England remained in touch and due to his efforts international donations started pouring in. She said that after his return from UK,the President is in Karachi and he will remain there for coming days.

Similarly she said that Prime Minister's Iran visit proved productive as Tehran donated Rs 100 million for flood relief efforts.

She said that the PM has canceled his visit to remain in Pakistan at this hour of trial, and supervise the rescue and relief operation.

The minister said that she has been assigned the task to lead the fund raising campaign for the flood victims.She said purpose of this campaign would be to create unity and harmony in the country.

She said that his ministry has set up Crisis Communication Centre for Flood 2011 at Press Information Department.

The Crisis Communication Centre will work round the clock for providing updated and latest information about the situation of flood in the country.

The Minister said the centre will also provide information about relief activities in coordination with its regional offices at Karachi and Hyderabad.
