HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares were 0.48 percent higher in early trade on Monday, breaching the 19,000 level despite falls on Wall Street and in Europe caused by the eurozone debt crisis.
The Hang Seng Index added 90.66 points to 19,008.61 in the first few minutes of trading.
Shares in Sydney pared early losses, after suggestions that Greece was close to securing critical rescue loans from its international lenders.
