Rs50bn allocated for Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme: Shehbaz Sharif

imageLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said that Rs 50 billion had been allocated for Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme for the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads.

Talking to a delegation of elected representatives here, he said that under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme, 10 percent additional share had been allocated for the districts of south Punjab which reflected Punjab government's policy of balanced development.

He said the government was implementing a balanced policy for the development of urban and rural areas, adding that repair and rehabilitation of all rural roads would be completed during the next two and half years.

He said completion of this historic programme would result in availability of modern communication facilities to the rural population.

Shehbaz said that "Pakkiyan Sarkaan Sokhay Painday" was historic project of development and prosperity of rural economy, adding that a new era of development would usher in rural areas with the completion of Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme.

He said the project would result in promotion of skill development in villages.

The chief minister stressed upon elected representatives that as Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme was a glorious project of public welfare, therefore, they should make collective efforts for its success.
