PARIS: France will start carrying out health checks on Saturday on travellers arriving by plane from Guinea, one of the worst-hit nations in the spreading Ebola epidemic.
Medics at Paris's main international Charles de Gaulle airport will take the temperature of passengers arriving from the daily flights still operating from the Guinean capital Conakry, Health Minister Marisol Touraine told AFP.
The checks will be carried out before passengers enter the airport building, by medical staff with the help of the Red Cross and French emergency response services.
France and the Red Cross will also be helping Guinea to step up existing checks on passengers boarding flights in Conakry.
"The first precaution is to ensure that someone who has a fever does not board the plane," Touraine told French radio earlier.
Passengers will also be asked to fill out a questionnaire enabling them to be tracked down if necessary after they land.
France announced Wednesday it would begin health checks on travellers arriving by plane from Ebola-hit nations, following similar action by Britain, the United States and Canada.
So far, Ebola has killed nearly 4,500 people, the vast majority of them in west Africa states Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, where the outbreak began early this year.
