SHANGHAI: Chinese shares rose 0.22 percent in early trade Monday after positive comments from Premier Wen Jiabao on inflation eased concerns that further steps to tighten monetary policy were ahead, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was up 6.16 points at 2,752.37.
In comments carried by state media on Friday, Wen said he was confident the government would bring inflation under control this year, a key policy objective for Beijing.
