TEHRAN: Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran on Friday agreed to expand and strengthen trilateral cooperation for peace, stability and development in the region.

This was agreed during a trilateral meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Friday.

The three leaders agreed that terrorism is a big hurdle in the way of regional development, which must be tackled and eliminated through enhanced cooperation and that trade and economic activities should be promoted within the region.

President Zardari is in the Iranian capital to attend the global summit on combating terror to be held on Saturday, on the invitation of Iranian President.
