ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Post has prepared a PC-1 for the computerization of as many as 3163 departmental post offices, keeping in view its competitive market and success at General Post Offices (GPOs).
An official of Pakistan Post told APP on Tuesday that the PC-1 has been submitted to the Planning Commission for its approval. "The estimated cost for two services, EMO and Utility Bills Collection, in 3,080 post offices along-with hardware will be Rs 685.176 million," he added.
He said that the Electronic Money Order (EMO) had become popular among the public. Initially this service has been activated in 83 GPOs across the country, he added.
The project will be completed in three phases; in the first phase the EMO service will be expanded to 1,000 sub-post offices, in the second to 1,000 and in third to remaining 1,080, he added.
The official said that the present software that will procured will have an industry standard and has the capacity to integrate any other software application.
In order to have a proper supervision and check over the operational staff, the Assistant Superintendents, town inspectors, postmasters, mail overseers and postmen have been assigned the responsibility under post office manuals.
The above mentioned supervisory staff inquires into the matter on receipt of complaint for non-delivery of mail.
