KARACHI: Karachi Coordination Committee comprising representatives of Pakistan Peoples Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Awami National Party has called upon the concerned provincial departments and law enforcement agencies to take indiscriminate action against criminal elements and miscreants.
The Committee resplved this in a meeting held at Sindh Chief Minister House here on Thursday, said a statement.
PPP was represented by Rashid Hussain Rabbani, Najmi Alam and Waqar Mehdi. Waseem Aftab and Hammad Siddiqi represented MQM while Rana Gul Afridi and Bashir Jan attended the meeting on behalf of ANP Sindh.
The meeting paid tribute to Sindh CM, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and President ANP Sindh, Shahi Syed for their efforts to maintain peace in the city.
It decided that the Coordination Committee will ensure implementation of decisions made in a meeting about peace in the city held at Governor House the other day.
The meeting also decided to constitute committees at grassroots level to establish peace. The committees will actively respond in case of any untoward incident and will restore peace in the effected area.
It observed that visits by the representatives of PPP, MQM and ANP in the disturbed areas on Wednesday have produced positive results and it helped to restore peace.
They also agreed to continue these type of visits in future and the peace in the city will be maintained at all cost.
The participants of the meeting decided that the meetings of the coordination committees of Site, Orangi, Saddar, Gulshan and Shah Faisal towns will be held at CM House on June 17.
They also offered fateha for the ANP leader, Ameen Khatak as well as for the victims of violent incidents in the city.
