78 shopkeepers fined, four sent to jail for profiteering

KARACHI: The divisional and district administration has fined 78 shopkeepers and collected Rs 1,91,500 for overcharging and violating officially approved price list.

While four milk sellers were arrested for profiteering, said a statement issued here on Tuesday.

The actions against profiteers were taken in Saddar, Civil Line, Gulzar Hijri, SITE, North Nazimabad, Bin Qasim and Gulberg areas.

During the crackdown, the administration has fined a flour seller, 60 milk sellers, two vegetable sellers, a fruit seller, four food grocers and 10 chicken sellers.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that operation against profiteers was underway in the city by the divisional and districts administrations.
