LAHORE: The Punjab government is organising a wheat competition to increase its yield and encourage farmers.
An Agriculture Department spokesman said on Friday that applications in this regard were being received by Agriculture (Ext) Deputy District Officer or Agriculture (Ext) office. Interested farmers could submit applications till Feb 28.
First prize is a 85-horse power tractor, second prize a 75-horse power and third prize is a 75-horse power tractor. A 75-horse power tractor is first prize for winning at division level, second prize a 65-horse power tractor and third prize is a 55-horse power tractor.
A 55-horse power tractor would be first prize at district level, second prize is a laser land leveller unit and third prize is an automatic wheat thresher.
During the wheat 2013-14 competition 66 tractor, 36 laser land levellers, 36 automatic wheat threshers, 136 wheat wrapperas, 136 seed cum fertilizer drills and 136 fertiliser broadcasters would be given as prizes.
