imageKARACHI: Commissioner of Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui has ordered immediate arrest of those challenging the government writ through violation of official price list for poultry items.

Addressing the members of Pakistan Poultry Association office bearers in his office Friday the commissioner said artificial hike in the cost of poultry items, particularly meat, has been reported to the administration from different areas.

He said all deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners and sub-divisional magistrates have been directed to handle the situation through sale of the mentioned goods in their very presence at the officially fixed rates.

"Fixation of price for edible items and all essential goods is the prerogative of the price controller who happens to be the divisional commissioner," said the Karachi Commissioner.

He reiterated that administration is responsible to provide relief to the consumers and is equally conscious of solving problems of whole-salers, retailers including those associated with poultry business.

Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui urged the members of the association to share their problems with the government so that these may also be solved.

"We will, however, at no cost allow any one to challenge the writ of the government and the official price have to be implemented for which mutual understanding can be ensured," he said.

Members of the association present on the occasion including Ghulam Khaliq, M.Javed Aslam, M Farooq, M Salim, Lal Baksh appreciative of the gesture shown by commissioner assured him all support for a cause that was of public interest.

Meeting was also attended by Additional Commissioner (Two), Karachi, Haji Ahmed, Chairman, Consumer's Rights Council of Pakistan, Shakil Baig, Director Livestock, Dr.Nazir Hussain Kalhoro and others.
