SC disposes off 540 cases in a week

supreme-court-of-pakistanISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court disposed off 540 cases whereas 347 new cases were instituted during the period from Saturday to Thursday.

 

The backlog in the apex Court on January 19 was 19655 cases, as 347 new cases were instituted during the period from Saturday to Thursday, the progressive total of pending cases as on January 24 came to 20002 cases.

 

Out of these, 540 cases were disposed of during the period from Monday 21st January to Thursday January 24 and backlog of cases reduced from 20002 to 19462 cases.

 

Chief Justice,Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has constituted various Benches at the principal seat, Islamabad and branch registries to expedite the case hearings.
