TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan said on Thursday he expects the Bank of Japan to take appropriate and flexible monetary policy steps, Kyodo news agency reported.
Kan also told parliament's Lower House plenary session that the BOJ is prohibited by law from directly underwriting government bonds, Kyodo said.
