MULTAN: Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan Iwan Suyudhie Amri on Thursday said that his country was providing 60 per cent palm-oil to Pakistan out of its total need.

He added that Indonesia was the second big purchaser of orange from Pakistan across the world.

Addressing a ceremony at the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) here, Iwan said that both Islamic countries had good relations and stressed the need to further strengthen them in various sectors.

He said that terrorism was a big challenge and they should fight against it collectively for peace and prosperity of the masses.

He said that Pakistan should export mango, orange, textile and other products to Indonesian markets. The ambassador added the MCCI was a good platform to enhance the capacity building.

He said that a big industrial and trade exhibition was being organised in Indonesia and stressed Pakistani exporters to ensure their participation in it.

He said that there were countless opportunities for promotion of the tourism sector between the two countries and work was in progress in this regard.

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Ali said that South Punjab had great importance in the agriculture sector and added that mangoes, vegetables and other crops were being cultivated in the region. He said that they were ready to hold a mango festival in Indonesia.

MCCI President Malik Israr Awan said that various initiatives should be taken on war-footing to increase trade between the two countries.
