Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir will be joining his teammates on Wednesday for the Ireland and England tour after finally receiving his UK visa.
Amir’s departure for the Pakistan cricket team’s tour of Ireland and Britain was delayed earlier due to a problem in obtaining his visa, local media reported.
“Amir could not travel with the team,” Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesman Amjad Bhatti confirmed to The Associated Press. “There’s some procedural issue which I hope will be resolved by Wednesday.”
However, the PCB spokesperson could not elaborate what exactly the issue was, but he was optimistic that Amir will get his visa within two days.
As per reports circulating on local media, Amir had applied for a longer term spouse visa because his wife is a British national and that could lead to him getting a British passport.
Pakistan cricket squad has left for England and Ireland tour, where they will play a Test against the debutant Ireland team and two Test matches against Joe Root’s England.
