No NRO, no Judicial martial law being planned in country: CJ cleared

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar on Thursday while refuting speculations remarked that there will no 'judicial NRO' or judicial martial law in the country.

Chief Justice remarked this while hearing a case in connection with officials on deputation in Capital Development Authority (CDA).

During course of proceedings Naeem Bukhari counsel for a respondent in the case claimed that there was speculations of a 'judicial martial law' in the country in these days.

Responding to Bukhari, Chief Justice remarked, "Let me clarify now, no judicial martial law or judicial NRO is being planned adding only constitution and the democracy will rule in the country, nothing else".

He also asked the counsel meaning of the judicial NRO and said "if I say that nothing is happening then several TV shows will close down,".

Chief Justice said that there should be criticism on the judiciary but positively which could lead the institute to judicial reforms.

Referring the talk on the posters in his favour posted in Karachi, he said that people did not know that I had already ordered to remove them adding that if I put a ban on such TV shows then business of many will be shut down.

Meanwhile, chief justice cleared the concerned departments that till the outcome of case no adverse action would be taken against the litigants.
