Police arrest close aid of Rao Anwar in Naqeebullah murder case

Police have apprehended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Qamar, a close aid of the former Malir Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwar in the 'extra judicial murder' of Naqeebullah Mehsud.

DSP Qamar was interrogated by a team headed by Additional Inspector General Sindh and failing to satisfy the team with his answers was taken into custody, local media reported. Former Malir Investigations SP Malik Altaf Sarwar was also interrogated and was allowed to leave on the condition that he would provide details regarding every police encounter during Anwar’s tenure.

During an identification parade held on Monday before a judicial magistrate two witnesses who were kidnapped along with Naqeebullah and were later abandoned, picked out three more policemen as their abductors in the Naqeebullah Mehsud murder case.

Rao Anwar a no-show in court yet again despite CJP’s directives

The Supreme Court (SC) on February 17 had issued contempt of court notice to Anwar for defying its orders to appear before it. Anwar has been absconding court proceedings for a month now despite SC granting his protective bail which has been cancelled earlier this week.

The former SSP is wanted in the ‘extra judicial murder’ of 27-year-old Naqeebullah, a native of Waziristan. He was killed, along with three other suspected terrorists, on January 13 in an alleged encounter with a police team headed by Anwar. However, Naqeebullah’s family has claimed that the deceased was innocent and was killed in a ‘fake’ encounter.
