Working at Google would be a dream come true for anyone. However, there’s a man who chose to quit a desirable job at Google to start selling samosas.

Munaf Kapadia, who decided to turn his mother’s recipe into a brand, is a 28-year-old Muslim residing in Mumbai, India. An MBA graduate, Munaf got a job offer from Google after working for a few years in India.

During his job at the tech giant, Munaf chose to help his mother in providing her mouthwatering food to a larger community. Hailing from a Bohri Community that is famous for its thaal, Munaf made the decision to introduce this concept to a larger group of people along with helping his mother. His mother is in charge of the cooking while Munaf is in charge of the marketing and branding.

Quitting his job at Google, Munaf started ‘The Bohri Kitchen’ in India with the idea of keeping his mother Nafisa busy. Initiated back in 2014, the restaurant was a weekend pop-up store in which he invited people over for a paid meal, reported Tech Juice. Now, the venture has progressed into a full-blown central kitchen that makes more than 30 deliveries per day along with their catering services at high-profile parties in and outside Mumbai.

This is not a regular restaurant, it had gained so much popularity that the restaurant is one of the favorites among renowned Indian celebrities including Rani Mukerjee and Farah Khan.

Due to its success, Munaf Kapadia has also been appreciated in Forbes annual ‘30 Under 30’ feature. Bring able to convert a thought into a successful business, The Bohri Kitchen gathers up to $75,000 in annual profits with Munaf in hope of greatly increasing the number to around $450,000 by next year.

Kunal Vijayakar. a food writer and a TV host expressed, “Munaf is one of the first home chef enterprises to make it big. The food is fabulous but his biggest success is to make a brand out of his mum’s cooking.”

Planning to expand his business to various cities including Dehli, Bengaluru and also in New York, Munaf says, “I’ve figured out the challenges. Now, it’s just a matter of addressing them.”
