China has stepped up its game by creating the world's first 'Forest City' in order to combat pollution.

The project which is still under construction was designed by a team known as Stefano Boeri Architetti which is responsible for developing green projects all over the world. The Forest City is expected to be a residential community for about 30,000 people.

The city is supposed to be surrounded by greenery with almost 1 million plants containing more than 100 species and also 40,000 trees, which will all together be able to absorb approximately 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide along with 57 tons of pollutants. Along with that, the city will also generate over 900 tons of oxygen per year, reported Science Alert.

This development will not only help reduce average air temperature but also ameliorate the local air quality. along with creating noise barriers, it will also develop habitats and enhance the local biodiversity in the area.

As Futurism informs, the Liuzhou Forest City will supposedly be self-sufficient and will be operatable on such energy sources that can be renewed like solar energy or the geothermal energy.

The futuristic city will also be completely wired and will contain commercial zones, residential regions, recreational areas, hospital and two schools. the city will be connected to the city of Liuzhou through fast rain line for electric cars.

The Liuzhou Municipality Urban Planning commissioned the project for the 175-hectare (432 acre) Liuzhou Forest City that will be located along the Liujiant River situated in the northern region of the city of Liuzhou in China.

Expected to be completed by 2020, if this high profile project is a success, it is expected to set an example for green city designs in other parts of China as well as all across the world.
