Taiwan's HTC to pay $75m for ADC patents

Published Updated

The deal will enable HTC to obtain 82 global patents from Minnesota-based ADC Telecommunications, HTC said in a brief statement. It will also include 14 pending patent applications.

The Taipei-based Economic Daily News said the deal was expected to help HTC consolidate its leadership in next-generation, or 4G, telecommunications technologies.

HTC makes handsets for a number of leading US companies and is the manufacturer of the Nexus One, unveiled by Apple rival Google last year.
