Thick fog ruins life in KP, airport closed as flights postponed

The concerned authorities also announced closure of Peshawar-Islamabad motorway to ensure safety to commuters. Due to unfavorable conditions the air routes were also disrupted and the Peshawar International Airport closed down by the authorities concerned added to the miseries of the people.

According to report of motorway authorities, the visibility level has turned to zero level, forcing them to announce closure of the road-link in order to ensure safety to the live and property of the general public.

After the closure of motorway, the flow of the traffic has been increased, a police officer Gul Sher on duty told APP when asked to comment.

Gul Sher also warned the motorists to keep more vigilance, fearing that the thick mist existing on G.T road may result in accidents.

"The motorists should show carefulness while driving in foggy weather to avoid any untoward incidents," he added.

The Peshawar airport has been closed down due to foggy weather and all the domestic and international flights have been postponed while no rain predicted by the Met Office in next 24 hours.

As the thick fog has engulfed most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, the Met Office informed that the current dense fog and cold weather will continue for another four days in plain areas of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Due to prolonged foggy conditions and low sunshine, the day-temperature reached to 2-3 centigrade while in the foggy areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, specially the hilly areas are facing more worst situation.

The people were most restricted to their houses and the routine life was badly hit by the uncalled for situation.
