Talking to a state run channel, he said about 30 years back, 80 percent electricity was based on hydel power with good future planning.

"Our neighbouring countries copied us and made electricity through hydel power but for the past 35 years we have switched over to thermal power."

He said, "The current scenario in the country demands that we should concentrate on building dams to fulfil our water and power needs."

Replying to a question, he said that in order to fulfil the needs now the govt has provided gas to residential areas.
