04 Dec, 2012

Iraq shipped 2.194 million bpd from the southern oil hub of Basra and 426,000 bpd from the northern fields around Kirkuk, including 10,000 barrels trucked to Jordan, oil ministry spokesman Asim Jihad said.

The average selling price for Iraqi crude for the month was $104.35 per barrel.

Recovering from decades of war and crippling sanctions, Iraq wants to boost its oil flows. The bulk of its crude oil is exported from southern Gulf ports.

With plans to double its oil production over the next three years, Iraq has passed the 3 million bpd production level for the first time in three decades and has overtaken Iran to become OPEC's second biggest oil producer after Saudi Arabia.
