Call for fixation of steel prices

Published Updated

Talking to APP here on Monday, Akbar Abdullah, who is also former chairman of All Pakistan Iron and Steel Merchants Association, maintained that the steel traders faced serious problems due to frequent price increase by Pakistan Steel Mills.

"Steel prices should be fixed in the light of international steel prices," he suggested.

He was of the view that private sector was not being duly consulted before taking important Government decisions influencing the trade and investment. The Government should make the best use of all major chambers/ trade associations especially Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in policy making to promote sense of ownership among the business community.

He said it is private sector which can bring change in the country as the state has limited resources. Private sector wants economic friendly policies and practical supportive steps to make it deliver and utilise the huge economic potential of the country.
