In July, the surplus stood at 457.4 million euros, while in August 2011 it was 454.4 million euros.
The August 2012 figure was helped by exports, which increased by 2.1 percent month-on-month to 6.59 billion euros, while imports remained stable at 6.0 billion euros.
Over the first eight months of the year, Hungary registered a trade surplus of 4.67 billion euros.
In 2011, it had a surplus of 6.89 billion euros over the whole year, up from 5.52 billion euros in 2010.
