LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the “stunt” of holding local bodies’ elections had been raised just to sabotage the general elections in the country and this might be a conspiracy on the part of President Asif Ali Zardari.

While addressing a function of a private sector concern in Lahore, Nawaz said the stunt of holding local bodies’ elections had been raised under a conspiracy just to influence the general elections that were six months away, added that nation be taken into confidence on the issue of holding local bodies elections.

The PML-N President maintained that political parties of Sindh had reservations on new Local Bodies Ordinance in Sindh.

About future caretaker government, Nawaz said it would be formed in consultation with the Opposition; otherwise, ultimate decision would be taken by the Election Commission.

He further said the country direly needed serious and sober leadership because present difficult situation cannot be changed in days; rather it would take months to bring necessary changes on socio-economic and socio-political infrastructure.
