Seven prisoners killed in Hyderabad jail riot

As per details, prisoners of Central jail Hyderabad protested against insufficient facilities in the jail and fought with jail administration. Many inmates climbed up the roof of their barracks and raised slogans against jail staff.

Heavy contingents of police were summoned who fired teargas shells on rioting inmates. Infuriated prisoners pelted police with stones, injuring SHO Market police station Tariq Khanzada, gunman of TPO Muhammad Ismail and gunman of DPO Muhammad Anwer.

More police contingents were called in to control infuriated prisoners. Police opened firing, killing at least seven prisoners. Jail hospital incharge Dr Pir Manzoor said bodies of seven prisoners were brought to hospital. The deceased included Ghulam Ali Khaskheli, Abdul Hakeem Mallah, Shafiq Malano, Aziz Khoso, Nadir Magsi and others. Prisoners held hostage at least six jail officials. Riot was continued inside the jail premises when filing this report. Additional police contingents and ambulances were summoned by the jail administration.

Meanwhile, relatives of prisoners staged a protest demo, blocking main road. Activists of various nationalist parties also took to streets in Qasimabad and Naseem Nagar against the killing of prisoners, forcing shop keepers to pull down shutters.
