KARACHI: In SITE industrial area, 25 to 30 per cent industrial units remained closed on the third consecutive day as gas pressure dropped.

Chairman, SITE Association of Industry (SAI), Muhammad Irfan Moton has said that industry is suffering huge losses due to continuous closure.

He said that industries had to meet their export commitments in time and for which they needed uninterrupted supply of gas, water and electricity.

He said that the industrial production had stopped on Thursday as soon as the gas pressure dropped. Resultantly, several captive power generating units also stopped functioning.

He further said that this problem was being faced only by the industrialists of SITE Area whereas the other industrial areas of Karachi were getting smooth supply which means that a discriminatory attitude was being adopted by SSGCL with the industries of SITE Area. The authorities concerned should take appropriate action in this connection, he said.

Chairman SITE Association demanded Managing Director, SSGCL to take necessary steps for improvement of the gas pressure in the biggest industrial estate of the country on war footing basis.
