Jordan's inflation rate drops to 3.8 pct y/y in Feb

Published Updated

Analysts say government subsidies, including a price freeze on further gasoline price hikes after a $650 million welfare package approved last January following protests over food prices across the Middle East, has helped curb some prices.

Economists say headline inflation was expected to rise above 6 percent in 2011 compared to an official forecast of between 5 to 5.5 percent.

Jordan's annual inflation rose to 5 percent in the whole of 2010 against 2009 as commodities and oil prices have increased.
