LAHORE: Power shortfall has reduced to 2,597 MW with improvement in monsoon rains across the country. Drop in mercury has played role in overcoming the high demand for electricity in general that has come down to 16,000 MW against 18000 MW earlier.

According to Energy Management Cell sources, demand for power has reduced to 16,327 MW against a demand of 13,730MW. A reduction in demand supply gap has let the consumers take a sigh of relief. Earlier, they were up in their arms against long durations of load shedding, particularly in the province of Punjab. The Chief Minister Punjab had also joined the protestors against the federal government and set up camp office at the Minar-e-Pakistan.
