Pakistan, China ink agreement for cooperation in archive

Ambassador Masood Khan signed the agreement on behalf of National Archive of Pakistan while Director General Yang Dongquan inked the deal on behalf of State Archives Administration of China here.

"Today we are opening another door of cooperation between Pakistan and China," said Ambassador Masood Khan. Masood Khan pointed out that preserving history was an important job for every nation, and China has played a key role in this area of knowledge.

He said that Pakistan Embassy in Beijing also initiated the task of archiving and so far succeeded in preserving all the agreements reached between Pakistan and China since 1950.

The most important among these pacts, he said were the signing of border agreement between Pakistan and China in 1963 and the 2005's Treaty for Friendship, that laid a solid foundation for cementing our bilateral relations.

He expressed thanks over State Achieves Administration for their interaction with their Pakistani counterparts that paved the way for signing of this agreement. Ambassador Khan said that since assuming his job here in 2008, he saw a great deal of high level exchanges of visits from both the sides.

President Asif Ali Zardari, he said recently visit China and was here in the first week of June and held very constructive meetings with Chinese leadership including President Hu Jintao and Vice-President Xi Jingpin.

In the same way, he said Chinese premier Wen Jaibao also visited Pakistan in 2010 and held very productive meetings with the Pakistani side.

Ambassador Khan appreciated Yong Dongquan for his keen interest in archiving the Chinese history and expressed the determination that Pakistani archivists would also benefit from his guidance.

Earlier, The Director General of State Achieves Administration of China Yang Dongquan warmly welcomed Ambassador Masood Khan and the diplomats from Pakistan Embassy.  He informed the Ambassador, that a number of delegates from Pakistan visited here and expressed keen interest in this work.
