A spokesman for NAB KPK said here that the Bureau had already filed a reference against him in 2005 for misuse of authority and misappropriation of Rs.80 million.

To protect himself from facing the trial, the accused fled abroad. He had been absconding for the last ten years prior to the filing of the reference.

Meanwhile, Accountability Court taking cognizance of his prolonged absence and non-attendance of court, declared him proclaimed offender.

NAB issued and handed over his Red Warrant of Arrest to Inter Pole. Executing the same, Inter-pole traced out the accused. Sensing his arrest through Interpol, the accused returned to Pakistan and submitted his application before the High Court for interim bail.

The court after hearing arguments of Deputy Prosecutor General NAB Jamal Khattak and counsel for the accused cancelled his application and ordered his arrest.

He was arrested by NABs security officials from court premises.
