Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 55,005 tonnes of cargo comprising 47,226 tonnes of import cargo and 7,779 tonnes of export cargo including 1,123 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 47,226 tonnes comprised of 5,336 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,324 tonnes of canola; 5,041 tonnes of rock phosphate and 34,525 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 7,779 tonnes comprised of 05 tonnes of bulk cargo and 7,774 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 1,123 containers comprising of 431 containers of import and 692 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 134 of 20's and 145 of 40's loaded while 07 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 244 of 20's and 223 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 01 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Ever Decent, Manet, Kota Naluri and Daeho Sunstat carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. Ever Ursula, Kota Naluri, KMTC Mumbai and Zhen Hua-28 carrying containers and general cargo currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely MT Quetta carrying oil tanker expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are five vessels viz. Cosco Belgium, OOCL Chicago, Coral Star, Thorsky and Grace carrying containers and clinkers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while another vessel viz. Baltic Bridge carrying containers is expected to arrive on Wednesday.

A cargo volume of 150,516 tonnes comprising of 124,969 tonnes of import cargo and 25,547 tonnes of export cargo including 3,071 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 124,969 tonnes includes 41,017 tonnes of coal; 20,208 tonnes of LNG; 1,025 tonnes of diesel oil; 5,500 tonnes of soyabean; 19,270 tonnes of steel coil; 2,400 tonnes of LPG and 35,549 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 25,547 tonnes includes 2,747 tonnes of cement and 22,800 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,071 containers comprising of 1,871 containers import and 1,200 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were three ships namely CMA CGM Butterfly, Meteora and Al-Jassasiya carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely Thorsky, Star Fighter and Epic salina carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, cement, soyabean, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. Kyota Express, Maersk Brooklyn, Swallow, IVS Corim Son Creek, African Spoonbill, Star Topaz, Epic Santosa, Glory Harvest, Golar Snow, Nardic Anny, Sun Dara and Chem Harvest carrying containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, mogas and diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There are two ships namely CSAV Tyndall and Maersk Denver carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely MOL Courage carrying containers is due to arrive on Tuesday.
